GERALD H. DAVIS

Mr. Davis is an experienced bankruptcy attorney who has been practicing bankruptcy law as both a debtor’s attorney, as well as a Court appointed Bankruptcy Trustee. His practice is located in San Diego and Imperial Counties, California.
Mr. Davis is a retired Naval officer, having commenced his military career at the age of 16 by joining the United States Navy. As an enlisted man, he was trained as a Hospital Corpsman and served the majority of his enlisted service with the United States Marine Corps. His service included a combat tour in the Republic of Vietnam in 1966-67, as a Corpsman attached to the Third Battalion, Fourth Marines, 3d Marine Division, FMF, in the DMZ. Mr. Davis was then appointed to officer status as a Warrant Officer, and eventually received a full commission as a Limited Duty Officer (Naval Administration). The majority of his officer service was with the United States Naval Construction Forces (SeaBees). Mr. Davis retired from the United States Navy in 1980.
Throughout his military career, Mr. Davis continued to improve his education. By attending classes off duty at a number of universities, Mr. Davis was successful in achieving a degree in Business Administration (Management), as well as a Master of Business Administration at the University of Southern Mississippi while stationed with the SeaBees in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Upon retirement from the United States Navy, Mr. Davis was accepted at the University of San Diego School of Law. He graduated from that institution in 1983, earning a Juris Doctorate degree and began his legal career, employed as an associate attorney with the firm of Gade and Haynie in San Diego.
Mr. Davis established the San Diego Debt Reorganization and Bankruptcy Center in 1987. That firm restricted its practice to representation of debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. It quickly became one of the most prominent bankruptcy firms in San Diego. Mr. Davis, and his law partner, Ronald E. Stadtmueller now have organized their law practice in the form of a Limited Liability Partnership – Davis and Stadtmueller, LLP.
In 1989, while continuing to practice law as a debtor’s attorney, Mr. Davis was also appointed by the United States Trustee and Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California, as an independent Bankruptcy Trustee to oversee and administer Chapter 7 and 11 cases. He has continued to serve in that capacity to this date, administering literally tens of thousands of Chapter 7 cases.
Mr. Davis has been awarded the highest recognition by his peers and associates through the Martindale Hubbell organization – the “AV Preeminent” rating of that professional organization, which signifies the highest ethical standards and professional ability. He has also been recognized by the California State Bar Association by former appointment as a Commissioner on the Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission of that Association’s Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Davis is also a member of the Panel of Mediators for the Bankruptcy Court, assisting parties in resolving conflicts related to bankruptcy matters and is a Certified Mediator by the National Association of Certified Mediators. Mr. Davis is an active member of the following Associations:
